Stamen is looking for a Studio Manager

Update, January 4, 2010: This position have been filled. We are, however, always looking for interesting collaborators, so feel free to mail us about working with us, and if things change (they often do), we'll be sure to get in touch. Sometimes it can just take a while. Thanks.

We're looking for a confident, caring and motivated person to help run our busy Mission design studio. We are looking for someone with excellent organization skills, who's clear and bold in both vocal and written expression, is computer literate, has a positive and professional demeanor, has the ability to prioritize and juggle multiple tasks, and is comfortable working in a dynamic service business that is receiving increased attention from the outside world. Flexibility and versatility are a must as we work quickly, organically, and collaboratively. You will be joining a close-knit team and we will very quickly start to rely on you for things that are important to us.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: studio coordination (scheduling, keeping all of our talented designers and engineers on target, answering phones, general organization, maintenance of database, filing, facility maintenance and supplies, time tracking, event planning and logistics, accounts receivables tracking), and some executive assistant duties (travel arrangements). Your job will be to help our Operations Manager continue to make Stamen a healthy, happy, productive and enjoyable place to work.

Stamen is an 8 person design and technology firm, working above the corner of 16th and Mission Streets. It's a great place to work—our studio is full of plants, music, books and laughter, we take our work very seriously but ourselves not too much so, and take great care to maintain a humane and meaningful work environment for everyone. The studio is full of opportunities for growth and learning for a committed and professional individual.

We are busy—maybe too busy—making live maps and dynamic interfaces and beautiful visualizations, and we love what we do. It's important that you also love what we do—be sure to check out our client work before applying! Our clients are the smartest people we know and we'll need you to be willing to take on challenges and learn with us as we go.

If this sounds like you, please send your resume and a bit about you to jobs@stamen.com; no phone calls please.

Please note: if you are a designer or programmer looking to work with us, this position is not your best opportunity.
