Alejandro Villarreal
Geospatial Product Manager
The year is 2007, and after brief stints as a farmhand and auto mechanic, Alejandro found himself making Maps at Google as a Program Manager (ironically, with no previous cartographic experience). Over the following eleven years Alejandro’s fascination with cartography’s intersection of technology and art blossoms: whether it is launching basemaps for 40+ countries or traveling to Tokyo to combine wifi meshes and vector data to map complex indoor spaces for wayfinding. As a Product Manager at Stamen, Alejandro draws upon his experience with skunkworks style prototyping and corporate program management to guide teams of expert designers, technologists, and cartographers in building beautiful maps and data visualizations that delight and inspire our clients and their audiences.
Alejandro is a Bay Area native who has spent the last thirteen years putting down his roots, as well as those of hundreds of houseplants, in SF’s Mission District.
