Stamen collaborated with the NYU WILD Lab to design and develop the Urban Wildlife Atlas, an interactive tool that encourages users to explore the built and natural landscapes of New York City alongside crowdsourced wildlife data. The Atlas showcases where the top 100 wild species in NYC have been sighted since 2020 using from data in iNaturalist.

The Atlas also features a handful of species case studies that bring in additional data to help explain the environment-animal relationship, including the Eastern gray squirrel and Rock pigeon. These case studies act as a form of data storytelling for users to better understand how changes in their habitat impacts wildlife in the city.
