The Science Museum in London needed help creating an exhibit for their museum in Bradford, England to showcase how historians are using advanced digital technologies to bring historical Bradford to life. By using techniques like large language models, transcribing audios, etc. researchers were able to collect a diverse set of data, bringing new perspectives to the places, people, and things that make up Bradford’s history. They needed an exhibit to showcase just this and be approachable and interesting for your average visitor.

We worked on a tight timeline to iterate, build, and test an exhibit for a large interactive touchscreen and immersive wall video display. The exhibit allows users to explore and filter data stories on a map of Bradford by technique where they can open a story and step through the data themselves. Visitors can also dive deeper into each technique by playing an interactive game to give them a sense of how historians use it in their research.
